Gravesend Borough Band is a community concert band based in Gravesend in Kent. It comprises two ensembles each of around 30 amateur players of all ages. First established in 1880, Gravesend Borough band is proud of its local roots, its history and its long standing association with Gravesham Borough Council.
The two ensembles that make up Gravesend Borough Band practice every Thursday evening in St Georges Church Hall, St George’s Church, Gravesend:
- Training Band (18.30hrs-19.30hrs during school term time)
- Concert Band (19.30hrs-21.30hrs)
During the course of a year the bands play a wide range of standard concert band repertoire at concerts both locally and on bandstands in and around Kent and Sussex. The musical repertoire includes selections and themes from shows and films, and popular light music. A list of forthcoming concerts can be found here.
New members (as with most local bands) are always welcomed! If you are able to play, used to play while at school and are interested in starting again, or know someone else who may be interested, please come along to a rehearsal or contact us for more information.
